This morning I recorded a cover of my parent's favorite Daniel Johnston song for them: Life in Vain.
I find this to be one of the most heartbreaking songs ever written, it's very deer to my heart.

Then later Derek and I recorded a cover of our favorite John Lennon song: Working class hero.
We recorded it last night, but as we were mixing it, pro tools decided to quit unexpectedly, and we hadn't saved a thing!
This is another song that is extremely important to me, the message is so powerful and still so prevelent today. Lately I've been worrying about the working/middle class- it's dissapearing, truly, and it scares me a lot.

Alsoooo.... After listening to my garage band/no mic cover versus the pro tools with a mic cover I realized how vital and useful buying a nice little mic will be. I'm hitting up instrumental music first thing tomorrow!

With a whirl wind of a great things going on (turning 20, fragile fawn reunion show, andrew jackson jihad, my new guitar, finalllllly some decent surf, everybody coming home for summer, planning decor for the apartment, meeting the best new people, family time, night swimming, etc etc etc.....) Now that I'm taking a step back from it all, all I can do is watch this new Drew Danburry music video on repeat repeat repeat. He's engaged!

It's videos like this, that make me nearly go back on all the statements I've made in recent years about not needing anybody else to complete me or make me happy. Every once in a while, I long for such a feeling.

I'm still rather out of it from the anastasia, but I'm not so tired.
So: here comes yet another fun and ridiculous want list!

First off:

I got my big baby taylor! He is absolutely beautiful and the greatest birthday gift I could ever ever ever hope to receive.
He kept such great company during the excrusiating long, foodless day I spent mostly by myself yesterday!

I also got the new Terry Richardson photo book, Terryworld.

And a ukulele.

So, check check check!

Now, I'm oogeling all of the latest and greatest from top shop:

I just ordered a tan pair of t strap pumps..my dream shoe. Only to find a NEW dream!

The up and coming H&M collection, that dress in particular!

At only 18 bucks, I'm fully ready to order this Bill Murray print off of etsy!
The real dream would be to find a Jonathan Richman one, which I'm realizing I'm probably going to have to make myself!

I have just returned from Ceaders Sinai with the greatest of news!

Although the prep work was a horrible, disgusting, achy, mess....my colonoscopy was a total breeze.

Best of all: My doctor is 99% sure I'm Crohns disease free!!!!! Meaning, it's most likely only IBS!!!
Which will be made far less painful with very simple and non abrasive medications.

What a relief!

thank you to everyone who has been checking up on me, it means the world.

A. I finally saw Mister Lonely last week.
(it exceeded all expectations)

B. John Hilcoat (director of the proposition which was written by Nick cave) is directing The Road,
an adaptation of one of the most important, terrifying, beautiful books ever written.
Mr. Cave himself is doing the music, and it stars Charleze Theron and Viggo Mortensen. I am in love with Viggo and couldn't imagine ANYONE else playing the man than him.

I was so nervous when I got word of this movie, but knowing that it's in the hands of such brilliant writers, directors, actors, and musicians, I am absolutely anxiously excited for it.

It's gonna kill.

An update is certainly necessary.
This weekend was outrageous!

It began Thursday. Nicoley and I headed up North to Santa Cruz to celebrate Stace's 20th birfday!
We got there, got some killer sandwiches at some fantastic family run place that starts with a Z, and headed straight for natural bridges to beat the heat!

We explored the bridges, nicole slid off a cliff, and then it was time to get in the ocean...

Next we dried off and headed for the pier to get some photobooth and icecream action.

From afar I thought that manaquin guy was a good looking real man!
Stace told me to use my flash, which set off all the crazy noises and movements of the mechanical
crazies, and made me screech at the top of my lungs!

That night stace made us a very impressive pasta dish with the best garlic bread I've had in a real long time! (way to go stace)
After dinner and a much needed shower, I had the pleasure of finally meeting the one and only, INGA!!!! Alex and Julia came over as well, and we spent the majority of the night goofing around and having laughs.

The next morning brought immense heat, leaving us with no other option but to hit up natural bridges round 2. We had an incredible brunch at a place I thinkkkk was called Zachories? it ruled. stace got us this amazing coffee cake that was all hot n buttery. nums. This time Inga, Julia, and Nancy came, which made it extra special fun...anddd Miguel met us there! I can't explain how exciting it was to finally have a chance to meet all these great people my friends have friended!

Jules gave me a piggy back ride so that my feetsies didn't burn off

Afterwards we headed over the to the market to pick up some foods and things for Stacey's BIRTHDAY BASH!!!!!
We can home and again, stace made us another super delicious meal. This time it was pizzza, which was so fun to eat while watching Clueless and trying to suck and blow! (which, after a few tries, julia and I totally got down.)

The party was a funeral for stace's teens! It was so much fun, I met all these great people...and most importantly, there was dancing!

Anyhow, the next day Nicole and I woke up super early to pick up my parents at the san francisco airport. From there we went and looked at some Apartments for me and the roomz! They were pretty slick....but it wasn't quite right.
After a kinda strange lunch, we headed over to a townhouse we had an appointment to look at, and as soon as we drove up to it, Nicole and I both had a good feeling!

The house is a 2 minute bike ride to campus (it's literally right next door) and a one minute walk to the muni!
It's absolutely gorgeous. You walk in and there's a flight of stairs, making it feel super lofty and open...it looks like this (but not really, it's so hard to capture the essence of an apartment on camera-which explains all the crappy craigslist ads)

the best news of all is.....the apartment's ours as of June 20th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so thrilled I can't quite handle it!

Most importantly, I wanna thank every person who was there to make my visit up north so special and meaningful, it made me so excited to be movin on up!

After enjoying today's momentary warmth, I've spent the remaining hours trying to learn every Daniel Johnston song I can find the chords for. These songs kill me; but they are so important.

When he sings, "This is a promise with a catch, only if you're looking, will it find you. Cuz true love is searching to, but how can it recognize you, unless you step out into the light the light." And he goes on to promise that true love will find you in the end, I become incredibly moved and I do believe that his promise is sincere and true. It eats at my insides.

Last night I went home a bit shooken up after telling Brittani about the Gene story. I suppose I hadn't told it for some time, and forgot how emotional I get.
It's hard for me to understand myself when I step back and think about what a large portion of my mind and heart are devoted to finding him. I've tried to write songs about it, I've tried to write short stories about it, but nothing comes out quite right, the reason being, I've realized, is because it's something I can't even comprehend. Someone sent me these picture a couple of days ago, inquiring, "is that him?"

I started to cry. The picture happened to be taken at a show at Clint's warehouse, and the boy in the picture happens to look nearly identical to Gene. For a moment, I convinced myself that it was him, and just as quickly as the idea came, it was shattered. Everytime I see a boy with blue eyes and a beard, my heart melts and stops and starts up all fast and I think, in that instant, that boy could be him. It's been so long now, that just about anybody could be him. But, when I close my eyes, I can still see the image I saw that night, and I know deep down, if I see him-I will know it. For real.

I'm not sure which is most maddening, the idea that I may have never crossed his mind after that night, he could be in some far away state or country.... or the idea that I represent the same longings I have for Gene in numerous people's lives, and I take them all for granted.

This entire search/desperation makes me feel like a real jerk.

This weekend was the best I've had in sometime! Kept it rather simple-Daytime spent thrifting in santa monica/beaching/and roaming venice. Nights spent nightswimming, baking, and movie watching cuddled up with my best friends in the world. Having Stace, Julia, and Chad home this weekend was the best thing I could ask for.

The next couple weeks are going to be the greatest!
They include these two events that NOBODY should miss:

I can't believe David Ivar Herman Dune agreed to play a nature show!
This is my dream come true-Herman Dune is literally my favorite band of our
time. I am going to pee my pants.

I am also bringing the slip n slide and lemonaide and cupcakes to this show-
so if not for the music and dancing-at least come for the parttty.

but really-come for the music.

This weekend was WARM. It consisted of wonderful people and lots and lotsa of hikes, sunny hikes.

It began Thursday. Justin and I explored the depths of Old Agoura. We crawled around. We ran into a friendly big old coyote. I think his name musth've been Johanson, but I couldn't hear him too well.

The next day was Friday. I went surfing before work. I worked til 6. Then we went on a night hike to china flats. We brought guitars, bongos, and the tamborine. I played and sang my latest favorite sing a long (nature's anthem) and everyone sang along and it felt so warm and I felt so good, and nothing else in the world existed or mattered. In that moment, I realized how lucky I really am to be surrounded by such talented, kind, compassionate, loving friends.

No tripod...

The next day I was schedualed to work until 6. I left at 12:00 to meet my parents at the beach for a picnic lunch. It turned out to be my lucky day, and Kimberly said I didn't have to come back in due to the fact that it was so mellow!!!! Holy holy holy! I went for a walk along the beach with my parents. Then they had to leave, so I took a big long sunblissed nap. I woke up all delusional and sweaty-just how I like it. I ran into the water (which was 53 degrees..so cold) and cooled off.

I returned home and met up with the boys and nicoley to go for a daytime hike to compliment the prior nights adventure. I didn't think anything could top it, but going to three falls after the rain nearly did! The waterfall was going off, it was so cool and refreshing in the mountains.

We went to follow your heart for dinner and scarfed down on all their good eats. Then everyone came to my house and we spent the night coloring and listening to mixtapes! It was really cozy and nice.

Finally came Sunday. My daddyo and I were planning on going to Venice to take some photos, but when we hit PCH we decided it'd be nicer to adventure to some place new. We found the most gorgeous hiking spot in Encinal canyon, if you are my friend, I NEED to take you there! It's perfect!

I have a hard time taking pictures of nature, nothing can ever do it any justice what so ever. ever!

I couldn't quite grasp why I was in such a desperate search to find something, to find someone.
All the while I've been completely aware of what it is I am looking for...but it wasn't until these past few days that I have been able to realize I have had it all along.

This is a photograph I took of the 2nd most beautiful view complimenting the third of fourth most beautiful day I've had, ever, spent with people that I love unconditionally then now and forever!

It's things such as this that allow me to realize, I have a whole lotta love in my life.
