| Footnote to Howl |

Nothing inspires me more than listening to Ginsberg recite the footnote to howl each morning. His words changed me forever. This photo is really important to me, and I hope that it captures a fraction of the power and insight provided by Mr. Ginsberg's holiness. |

I don't have a copy of "howl", either recorded or in print, at this point in my life, though I've read and heard it a number of times in the past. I found a copy of the footnote online ( http://www.plagiarist.com/poetry/?wid=3744) and read it out loud to Denise this morning. It is truly an amazing universal statement. I'd love to know more about where the photo came from and about the "change that was wrought" in you. The photo shows a transformation from being touched by the words to being marinated in them and changed by them. Denise was inspired to show me some of the mementos she has from the 1960's when she was a participant in New York's Gansevoort Pier Poetry Readings, which I may post to my blog in a while. I'm so glad to be your friend. | |
